According to the law n.132 of 01/12/2018 the Italian language level required to apply for Italian citizenship by marriage must be certified at a B1 level. The PLIDA certificate is an official diploma offered exclusively in Johannesburg by the Dante Alighieri Society.
The PLIDA certificate is issued in accordance with an agreement with the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and under the aegis of ‘La Sapienza’ University of Rome.
The PLIDA certificate certifies your competence in writing, reading, listening and speaking at six different levels. The exam is written at Dante Alighieri in Houghton, and sent to Rome for evaluation.
The certificate is recognized by the Italian Ministry of Labour and Social Policies and by the Italian Ministry of Universities & Research, as a qualification to facilitate university enrolment of foreign students.
